Why isn’t real estate FUN?…
Agents: Do you love your work? Do you think real estate is fun? More importantly, do your clients think real estate is fun and do they enjoy the experience with you? This should be a happy time for buyers…and in most cases, the sellers! Even if it’s not the best situation for a seller, do your best to make it so.
My observation is that there is something intriguing about our real estate world that the general public is drawn to. Why else would they make so many reality shows about it? The interest is there and I wonder if we are ‘living up to the hype’ when we work with our buyers and sellers.
My question is this: Do you think there is a place for FUN in real estate? I am certain that the majority would say something like “Sure, you have to like your job.”…or something obvious like that, but where do we draw the line between ‘fun’ and ‘silly’…or between ‘fun’ and ‘professional’?
Here are the facts: Real estate is hard work! (Ask the 95% of unsuccessful For-Sale-By-Owners) But ‘hard’ shouldn’t mean ‘stressful’ or ‘boring’ for our clients! Is it hard to build and run a ride at Disneyland? Sure it is…but I never knew that because I was having to much fun enjoying the process.
Okay, reality check: Life is not always a bed of roses…and some real estate deals are more stressful than others. My point is to take the client on a great ride and treat them special, raising the bar. Don’t bring them into the muck that we deal with, unless it’s really necessary. And finish strong! Put an exclamation point on their entire home buying or selling experience with you.
My goal is to crate a raving client – because of the experience we shared together. I strive to get a ‘WOW’ experience several times in each transaction, because to me ‘It’s all about the experience’. Let’s raise the bar together and have more fun doing it!
